The theme of today’s reflection is “God’s ways are not our ways.” We reflect on the wisdom of God’s ways, perspectives, and plans as revealed through the scriptures, and we are invited to reflect on our own lives and future within God’s plan and our disposition to embrace the divine wisdom that often challenges our human understanding and perspectives.

In the first reading, the prophet Isaiah reminds us explicitly that God’s thoughts and ways are higher than ours and beyond our comprehension, and we should seek the Lord while He may be found and call upon Him while He is near. As our world is filled with distractions and temptations, we are reminded to prioritise our relationship with God, seeking him in humility.

In the second reading, St. Paul speaks of his desire to magnify Christ in his life, whether through life or death, because his ultimate purpose is to live for Christ. He acknowledges that while living in this world has its challenges, it also presents opportunities for Christ to be glorified through our lives. That is the way God wants our lives to lead.

In the gospel, Jesus tells the story of labourers in a vineyard who receive the same wages despite working various hours. The lesson here is that God’s grace is abundant and available to all, regardless of when we come to Him. This parable challenges our human sense of fairness and reminds us that God’s generosity extends beyond our understanding.

As we reflect on these passages, we are reminded that God’s ways are not ours. His wisdom surpasses our understanding, His purpose for our lives is higher and nobler than anything we can imagine, and His love for us has no end. Let us seek the Lord with all our hearts, understanding that living for Christ is our ultimate goal; serving Him in our life is our purpose. May we also embrace God’s abundant grace, recognising His generosity knows no bounds.
