2026 marks the 200 years of St Mary’s existence on its present site. Previously, there was a church building on another site in the village. Records show that the first mass was celebrated here on 11th May 1826. Thank you for being part of this historic, continuing journey of our church.
We are holding a special commemoration Mass on Sunday, 16th August at 12 noon to celebrate this historic event, followed by a light lunch.
We’re creating a small display and would appreciate the loan of any photos of special occasions in the church. Physical photos can be sent to ‘St Mary’s Parish Council Chairman, 22 South Street, Fochabers IV32 7ED, include your name and address so that they can be returned afterwards. Alternatively, they can be sent via email to Fochabers.heritage@gmail.com.
